by augusting @ 2008-08-02 - 15:06:32

By Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth augustine308@yahoo.com Dear Nigerians in America. Sola Osofisan et al Its only my friend OMOTAYO ONABAMIRO ,an Ibadan based Mechanical Engineer who seems to be the only one thinking in the whole of Nigeria.(EMAIL:tonabamiro@yahoo.com . Omotayo son of the late and distinguished Scientist Professor Sanya Dojo Onabamiro,(Dicoverer of the tropocyclops Onabamiroid and tropocyclops Ago- iwoyensi), has just reminded me that with all our first class engineers in Mechanical engineering we are yet to produce a Nigerian Car. Henry Ford Introduced his Model T Ford on October 1 1908 . 100 years ago. We would be celebrating Nigerian independence on October 1 with speeches. no achievement.Omotayo speaks German,Russian,French,English and |Yoruba. We could beeter utilise his brain.German, French and Russian are High Technolgy languages.Dear Nigerians in America do not spend all your time lamenting, criticizing or analysing things back home in Nigreria. please do take concrete action like sending books back home. If all we give is moral support nothing would change in Nigeria. We should also send relevant publications to the media houses so that they can better serve the interests of the Nigerian people. What we need in Nigeria is an age of enlightenment. . In addition to this we can look for people to produce Radio and Television programmmes that would uplift the people of Nigeria. We need to use the mass media for mass mobilisation of Nigerians in their owen interest. We need to translate books into indigenous languages.books that can make a decisive change in the lives of Nigerians. We need to produce progressive programmes on Television and Radio in indigenous languages. We Need to NIGERIANISE SCIENCE AND SCIENTISE NIGERIANS to use the wors of Professor Oke one time President NigerianAcademy of Science. we need to promote self development amongst Nigerians most especially if they can afford it.
Business people if they can afford it should be encourage to develop themselves to the best of their abilities so that they are better business people and better citizens . All categories of business people from petty trader to Billionaire. The same goes for all people who are employed. They should read books Keep libraries and go for courses if they can afford such.
Lastly,Hewlett-Packard the worlds largest information Technology company was started by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, about 70 years ago in a Garage. In 2007 they made a profit of 100 billion Dollars the largest ever in the history of business. Whereas Nigeria has made less than 400 Billion Dollars from oil exploration since 1958. Nigerians should be encouraged to use their brains rather than be distracted by oil wealth. All elecrical Engineering students and Physics STUDENTS SHOULD READ ABOUT Hewlett Packard. Please google: HEWLETT-PACKARD AND MOSHOOD ABIOLA also google: STEVE JOBS AND JIMOH IBRAHIM
